$0.99 Gourmet

The NY Times has two very interesting articles about gourmet cooking on the cheap.

Here, the writer spends a week eating only what he can prepare from ingredients found at NYC $0.99 stores.

And here, gourmet seafood chef, Eric Ripert, creates recipes using $0.99 store finds.

The retro-inspired Orbit outdoor lounger set is on sale at Crate and Barrel for $199! Summer's barely here and we're already marking down patio furniture? Sounds good to me.

Art Rogue Mothers' Day Sale

Mothers' Day approaches. This year, give your mom something that won't wilt. Perhaps a little art?

Matt at Art Rogue was kind enough to send an e-mail about their Mothers' Day print sale.

Now through 5/1, an 8.5"x11" print will be marked down to $30 and a 13"x19" print will be marked down to $60

JC Penney Surprises

JC Penney is having a home sale with up to 60% off some lovely, classic pieces. I honestly didn't expect to find much, but Penney's has taken a page from Target's book and updated their wares. I wasn't impressed by their upholstery, but their wood furniture is quite nice.

See more of my Penney's picks at Shak In Style.

Sanders Cove Buffet and Hutch, now $749.

Uptown Bedroom by Studio, $999 for the 5-piece King set.

Home Depot has Modern Furniture and it's on Sale

Home Depot has been touting their home decor items on the radio for a few months now. I really never gave it a second thought, picturing mini blinds and cheap veneered side tables with attached lamps (sorry Home Depot), but I was so wrong. After seeing a 30% off deal for Home Depot furniture on the Bargainist, I clicked the link to find this set of mirrored parsons tables for $391 (left), and this Bardot cocktail table for $294 (right)! I am very, very impressed.

Jonathan Adler Sale

JonathanAdler.com kicks off its annual sale today. Items are up to 50% off.

Sale at Design Gallerie

Design Gallerie off of Knox is having 20-50% off select merchandise this weekend. I checked the site, but there is no mention of what is on sale and the prices are not listed online (frustrating).

The store specializes in innovative, modern furnishings. I've stopped by once before and found the furniture and art to be of very good quality. Things were a little more than I could afford, but not unreasonable.
