Nervous System is an experimental jewelry company founded by two students, Jessica and Jesse, who met at MIT.

They make their pieces out of nontraditional materials like silicon and stainless steel and base the designs on complex patterns generated by nature and computation.

Cool Art on the Cheap: Untitled (Black Blocks)

I love this print of faux bois blocks from 20x200, the site that sells affordable, limited edition prints in multiple sizes. I had totally forgotten to check this site for the last few months (shame on me).

"Untitled (Black Blocks)", by Todd St. John, is still available in three sizes ($20 - $2000 each).

Messy Table Cloth

Have you ever used a table cloth? I've never been partial to them. It just seems easier to wipe the table top.

It probably doesn't help that most stores stock only the most stodgy and traditional styles.

But check out this Messy Table Cloth (apparently only available on this Polish-language site). I could actually see myself using something fun like this. And it's black, so it will be easy to get the inevitable red wine stains out.

Relic Necklace from Etsy

I'm not usually big on jewelry, but this yellow coral necklace from Etsy seller Mme. Fortuna is quite intriguing.

The piece is from a collection called Relic. Each hand-blown glass orb is filled with an every-day natural item turned "object", like a feather or a bit of earth.

The series is inspired by Victorian morning jewelry.

Each orb measures approximately 1" and hangs on a gold fill chain.

I found a link to these amazing examples of hand-drawn typography on Joshua Blankenship's blog.

The series of one-liners, found on Flickr, are by Linzie Hunter. Each line is taken from spam she's received.

There's some buzz in the comment section asking Hunter to sell prints of the series. I certainly hope that she will.

Period Table by Brad Ascalon for Sintesi

This beautifully boiled-down take on a classically-turned coffee table was designed by Brad Ascalon for the Italian company Sintesi. It was shown at the the Salone Internationale de Mobile in Milan but remains sadly absent from the Sintesi site.

The table is made from powder coated steel and tempered glass. Hopefully it will be reappearing in Italian cyberspace very soon.

Peter Bauhuis: Ornate Minimalism

Ok, so this isn't interior design, but it is magnificent design. Phoebe at Silk Felt Soil has her post on jewelry by Peter Bauhuis labeled as "Ornate Minimalism." What a wonderful description of this very organic feeling piece. This sort of design illustrates how we can combine the current naturalist trend with a minimalist aesthetic.

Now I just need to figure out how to translate this feeling into a room.
