A Little Bit Gothy at Anthropologie

A few items from the October Anthropologie catalog caught my eye.

I like this dark Hairpin wallpaper accented with bright purple. Obviously, these are hairpins, but they look a little like jellyfish. I've always been a fan of the jellyfish tank at the aquarium. It's very ethereal to watch the light reflecting off of them as they float around.

I also like these black Burnout Velvet curtains. They remind me of something you'd find in a haunted mansion.

Eeeewwwww: Bread

Just in time for your Halloween party, really, really gross looking bread made by an art student.

I don't know that I want to slurp my PB&J out of a bread-hand, but I have to admit I'm impressed.

Stylish Scares

It never occured to me, probably because I was busy hiding my eyes, but some of our Halloween movie favorites have their own iconic interior-design aesthetics. I ran across two references to horror movie interior design today.

Passionately Pink for the Cure

Now through October 31st, Yahoo will donate $1 for every pink photo uploaded to the Passionately Pink for the Cure Flickr pool.

Right now there are almost 34,000 images uploaded. Yahoo will keep donating up to $50,000.

The Re-bag

If I had to pick the "IT" bag for 2007, I'd have to go with the re-usable canvas shopping tote.

Once the territory of only the most dedicated environmentalists, the Earth-friendly canvas bag has had a fashionista make-over several times over (remember the lines for the "I'm not a plastic bag" bag?).

I love this modern, acrylic flower basket for only $28 at The Gardner.

It's designed to allow you to pick (or buy), carry, and display flowers all in one place. I'd love to use it as a simple centerpiece for my dining table.

NEL has designed several pieces of furniture shaped like dogs. All of the pieces are multi functional, acting as shelves, magazine racks, stools, end tables, or whatever comes to mind.

I think they're adorable.

I've seen a million pricey designer versions of this sort of furniture-like pet bed. But, finally, Ikea is offering us a cheap but chic alternative.

The $69 Batis Krona is for a cat or small dog and has a removable, machine-washable cover.

Another Fabulous Outfit

Here's another amazing outfit snapped by the Sartorialist. It looks fabulous, but the components are relatively simple: a pencil skirt, a graphic tee, and an amazing trench.

I love to shop. And I'd like to think I have decent taste. But I never manage to put anything this spectacular together.

I've decided the solution is to compile a look-book for myself using my favorite Sartorialist pics. That way I'll be focused in on what I really want/need.

Alice McCall

I really like this outfit from Alice McCall's "Welcome to the Dollhouse" collection.

I would kind of need both pieces to be about 6" longer, but I love the contrasting stripes and colors.

The rest of her stuff is equally Paris-cool.

Wilton Desk Lamp

This Wilton Desk Lamp from Crate and Barrel looks like the sort of vintage piece you'd find at a great flea market. Maybe somewhere in Europe.

The fluted gold base is pretty snazzy. But my favorite detail is the interior of the lacquered black steel shade. It's painted gold.
