Mona Lisa Vases

These are like a cross between an Andy Warhol painting and a grocery store votive candle. I love the idea of the set of four together on a mantle.

Mona Lisa Vases, $28 each at WDH.

Skeleton Pencil Holder

Etsy seller CircaCeramics calls this the "itty-bitty cylinder skully las manos".

It's the most adorable salute to death I've seen all week.

Etsy Show-and-Tell: Cherry Blossoms

I wish these pretty ceramic cherry blossoms could be hung on a wall. But they'd be lovely scattered across a table.

Cherry Blossoms from Etsy seller Whitney Smith, $32 for a set of 12.

Nautical Portraits

I love this print of preppy portraits from Etsy seller labpartners.

It has a Royal Tenenbaums-ish look to it and lovely, bold color-scheme.

Designer Michelle Ivankovic designed the practical, modern Finette frame collection for Umbra.

Each is made up of two pieces of glass bolted together. The front is strategically screen-printed with frame silhouettes to border your photos.

Horses + Laser Beams?

While browsing Etsy for horse-related art, I ran across this very unusual print from seller thecellophanes. It's called "Laser Beam Mustang," and the 10.25" x 14" print is $20.

First I laughed, but then I fell in love with it and bought one for my living room. It's a little bit stark, but anything that has laser beams coming out of it's eyes has at least a dash of whimsy.

$0.99 Gourmet

The NY Times has two very interesting articles about gourmet cooking on the cheap.

Here, the writer spends a week eating only what he can prepare from ingredients found at NYC $0.99 stores.

And here, gourmet seafood chef, Eric Ripert, creates recipes using $0.99 store finds.

Remote Pocket Pillow

By far the most attractive incarnation of on-sofa remote storage I've ever seen. The only problem: I need like 5 of these.

Doodle Dog Paintings

Another morning, another hour of Etsy-obsessing. Yes, I am addicted to the "Pounce" tool.

I just discovered the store of Doodle Dog Paintings, which features the work of pet portrait artist, Kellie Oliphant-Burns.

Etsy Find: Frankensteined Ceramics from Melabo

I've been playing with Etsy's Pounce tool this morning. If you haven't seen it, it's a search feature that lets you see recently sold items or discover new Etsy shops that haven't sold an item yet.

I was totally blown away by these weirdly awesome statuettes from seller Melabo. I collect white ceramics, and I can't wait to get a few of these odd animal hybrids.

From the top, Deerman, Totem Kitty, Reclining Deerman, and Bride and Groom, $40 each.
